Hi,
I'm looking to rent in the Dorchester area whilst learning about the area. There's a few properties to rent in Poundbury which look interesting but the online streetmaps don't detail all the street names. Some don't even have some of the more recent streets.
Does anyone know of an online map of the streets with sufficient detail to find things like Beechwood Square? Even if it's just a static image or a one page PDF?
Thanks,
Nils.

Thanks pm.co.uk. I've ordered one of those maps by post.
The Internet's turning up a few lettings in the area, and Poundbury has a couple. It looks like a good place to stay: walkable to Dorchester centre where there's hopefully some places to eat out in the evening (no, I've never visited!), and good access by road to the surrounding areas to look for something more permanent. Unless I decide to stick with Poundbury of course! :-)

Hello Nils,
Dorchester has a good selection of Restaurant's, Bars, and Pubs, and most of the shops that you need, and Poole, Yeovil & Weymouth are not far away. Poundbury & Dorchester are surrounded by beautiful countryside, and is just far enough in from the coast to not be affected badly by tourism in the summer.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
Sounds ideal. Hoping to visit this weekend and view some lettings next week.

hope you enjoy your visit, we walk into Dorchester regularly from Poundbury, it's a nice stroll into town! Let us know what you think of the area and of course Poundbury itself!!

Hi mintola,
Yes, it was interesting. Looks like one particular let in Poundbury may be suitable. What route do you walk in on and how long's it take roughly?
Does anyone know if the "Poundbury Code" is available online? Want to make sure I don't step out of line!
Nils.

we go straight down cambridge road (at the side of the shop), then opposite the post office (side of the Victoria pub, forget the name of the road) Under the bridge cross over by the chippy then the pelican crossing into Bowling Alley Walk, alongside the Borough Gardens, this brings you into South Street opposite the Wimpy. It takes us about half an hour, but that is a slow pace as hubby can't walk too quick. There is a Poundbury code? Well, perhaps I've overstepped it then lol!!

Hi mintola, Thanks for the directions, I can follow what you say on the map and will give it a try next month.
I suspect the Poundbury Code is enforced through convenants on the titles. Builders elsewhere have used them to say "No external satellite dishes. Only rotary washing lines. Etc." Poundbury's may be a little longer than most I suppose! I expect a copy will turn up in the paperwork later on.
Thanks everyone for your help. One more question... Any recommended take-aways, particularly Chinese and Pizza. Always useful when moving in and then surrounded by piles of boxes for days. :-)
Nils.
