From a 'Fed up with Poundbury' DORCHESTER Resident.

From a 'Fed up with Poundbury' DORCHESTER Resident. Hi Richard, Can I ask how old your house is, and just how long ago was it when it was also built on a open field with fresh air and wildlife? I would say a good 60% of Dorchester was built in the last 70 years

1. Not a lot! 2.The vast majority of outsiders who move in and then tell locals how to live their lives " why don't they get one" !!!! They might enjoy it!!! 3.More local people, less NIMBY's, AND MORE REAL FACILITIES FOR THE 10 - 17 YR OLD'S ( AND LESS TALK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!! ( Take note local councillors) 4. More out of touch "outsiders, nimby's,councillors with verbal dioreah, etc etc" LETS HAVE SOME REAL LOCAL PEOPLE TO BALANCE THINGS OUT!!!!!!

Far more affordable housing for LOCAL people, not just over-priced accommodation, for people moving in. I think if the residents of Poundbury realised the ill-feeling there is towards the development locally, they would be shocked.

We don't control the house prices, its just supply and demand The residents get all the blame from people in Dorchester, but really its the Town Council that has held this town back and forced up the house prices

I do not think you quite understand; the problem with Poundbury is, that it was meant to be an off-shoot of Dorchester, with affordable housing and providing work within the same vicinity. Instead, it is a community of non-local people, with very little social or affordable housing. This is what is really annoying local residents. PLUS the fact that there has been a lot of investment within NEW Poundbury, but as soon as you step into OLD Poundbury, there has been NO investment. It is so visible. Also, where is the school, Dorchester Schools are bursting at the seams, why allow such a hugh development without this. A school should have been built by now, as it is needed NOW.

Poundbury is an off-shoot of Dorchester ;D and the house prices were very affordable a couple of years ago but due to Supply (Town Council hold things up) and Demand (Loads of people wanting to live here) the prices have gone up, and yes! are out of reach for most people Local Investment - I'm a bit lost with you on that one coz you moan that Poundbury is getting all the investment, and then you say we should have more by having a new School built here? Is it true that we cant win, whatever happens?

If you feel that there has been NO investment in OLD Poundbury (as you put it) you should get onto the council, not blame Poundbury residents. I am sure the local Dorchester families who are living in Poundbury, in the new social housing, are not complaining. I think there are more of them than you realise, it's just that their houses are mixed in with the private houses so you can't see the difference. So much better than the large council estates of the past.

we live in the social housing on Pounbury and do get really fed up of the complaints, it's got to the stage where we really don't like saying we live here! If you walk down our street you woudln't know which houses are actually social housing, there is a tiny difference, I know what it is, but I'm not telling!! When someone asks where we live, I say Dorchester, as that is where I believe we live. Maybe some residents want to keep this estate apart from Dorchester, but there are as many who don't!
