We have a pretty good selection of shops in Poundbury at the moment, but can you think of anything thats missing? What new shops would you like to see?

I haven't moved to Poundbury yet, but when I do I would love to see a butchers shop. It would have to be an 'ordinary' butchers though. Where I live now in Herts there is just one butchers shop and he specialises in organic meat and meat from the Duchy estate. I can't afford to shop there. And a newsagents on the North side of the Bridport Road.

There are already quite a lot of shops in the newest part of Poundbury which are waiting to be filled, and it would be nice to see a variety of businesses move into these. I would use an organic wholefoods shop if there was one and I understand that a bakers is already planned. A newsagent is a good idea. I agree that they need to be ordinary shops that we can all afford to shop at, because unless residents use them they will not thrive.

From what I hear the Shop rents in Poundbury can be as much as half what they are in Dorchester so with things getting a bit troubled on the high streets, maybe some of the shops will move from the town and over to Poundbury to cut costs.
