First of all congratulations to Poundbury on having a community chat forum In my opinion a forum like this is an important tool in a community environment.
My wife and I are returning back to the UK we originaly lived in Surrey, as the costs are too high there even now, we are looking for the ideal place to settle back there.
As we spent a lot of our holiday time in Dorset we think this is the right area for us. We have been to Dorchester many times but never to Poundbury. We recently visited Sherborne and fell in love with the beauty of the town.
Although we haven't been to Poundbury yet, we believe it would be a preferable area then other parts of Dorchester. This is a not a snob statement just a preference based on our knowledge of the area. We have a difficult decision to make though on whether we move to Sherborne or Poundbury ?
I believe the Pros for Poundbury are its situation in the Capital of Dorset where there are lots of facilities plus easy access to our Son and Daughter in Law who live in Verwood. I have a few questions that may help us.
1. My wife loves gardening are the gardens in Poundbury properties typical of new builds ie small?
2. Are there walking clubs and classes for Watercolour Painting, Languages, Upholstery, Gardening in the town?
3. Are there regular bus services to other parts of Dorset, and how long is the train journey to London? Is the station within walking distance, train /bus?
4. Is the community in Poundbury generally helpful and friendly?
5.Finally are there any parts of Poundbury that are still being developed and we should avoid?
I hope these questions do not seem naive but we want to make sure we make the right decision. Thank you in anticiaption of your answers.
