Any plans available for the new fire station going up near monkeys jump? Will it be noisy living near a big fire station? It shouldn't be too noisey, unsure what appliances will be based there but current Dorchester Fire Station has two fire engines which get regulary turned out without too much disturbance to the local residents. Fire engines wouldn't normally be sounding two tones unless required too so shouldn't cause too much impact.

If you have a fire in your house please keep it quiet and please do not call 999 as it might wake the neighbours and they might die.

www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/4199889.Prince_Charles_to_open_new_Dorset_fire_HQ/Prince Charles to open new Dorset fire HQ 3:50pm Friday 13th March 2009 By James Tourgout » PRINCE Charles is to open the new Dorset Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in Dorchester. He will perform the honours at the new complex in Peverell Avenue West, Pound-bury, on March 24. David Fox, chairman of Dorset Fire Authority, said: “Dorset Fire Authority is committed to providing Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole with the best level of service possible and this new headquarters is a substantial aid towards fulfilling that objective. “The fact that our new headquarters is built on Duchy land makes it particularly appropriate that HRH has found time in his busy programme to formally open the building and Dorchester Fire Station. “Needless to say, we very much look forward to welcoming him.” Prince Charles will be taken on a tour of the facilities and speak with crews and staff. He will also unveil a plaque to commemorate the occasion. Chief fire officer Darran Gunter said: “The new headquarters and fire station represents the culmination of a partnership between Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, Dorset Police, PFI partner PFF and several government departments which has provided new, state of the art fire stations and facilities to protect and serve the communities of Dorset. “We are rightly proud of what has been achieved and as the chairman says, we are all very much looking forward to this memorable occasion.” The building is situated at the Monkey’s Jump roundabout end of the development, near the bypass. Prince Charles regularly calls into the development to see the latest progress and new plans.

www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5j8A2LHU0GyFHqQ8qOUym6heTruiACharles opens new fire headquarters The Prince of Wales is to open a new fire service's headquarters during a trip to his model village. Charles is leading a group of visitors on a royal tour of Poundbury in Dorset. The Prince regularly shows influential guests around the urban extension to Dorchester as a pioneering example of post-Second World War urban planning. Construction began on the Duchy of Cornwall land in 1993 and it is now in phase two and three, with about 1,100 people living in a mixture of affordable, social and privately-owned housing, designed to be indistinguishable from one another. The development seeks to implement the principles expounded in the Charles' 1989 book, A Vision Of Britain. Poundbury is expected to be fully completed by 2025, when it will add around 5,000 to the population of Dorchester with 2,000 jobs in the factories, offices and general facilities across the site. The Prince of Wales will also officially open Dorset Fire and Rescue Service HQ at Dorchester Fire Station during his visit. He will tour the fire station and meet youngsters taking part in programme run by The Prince's Trust and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service. The 12-week personal development course saw the youths take part in team building activities, outdoor pursuits, community projects and work placements to raise self-esteem, build confidence and develop personal skills.
